Farragut Middle School – Creating a Culture of Dignity Student & Parent Workshops
Creating a Culture of Dignity must go beyond slogans, posters, and programs that don’t have real-life applications or only exist briefly and then disappear.
This workshop presents students with the definitions and context for the words “Dignity” and “Respect”. Students will create personal meanings of these words for themselves. The concept of treating yourself and others with dignity is a fundamental concept that will be used throughout their lives.
This workshop will provide a principle-based approach that gives people the structure and flexibility to turn common social challenges into teachable moments where everyone’s dignity is affirmed. With this as a foundation, adults (parents) and young people can learn the skills to understand emotions, manage conflicts, create appropriate boundaries, and effectively advocate for themselves. In this environment strong and supportive relationships help children thrive.
